TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 07 (PIA)–Nipasidaan ang Department of Health (DOH) sa publiko nga mag-amping sa mga sakit sa panit nga mahimong makuha tungod sa ting-init.

Matud pa sa DOH, dali kitang matakdan sa mga sakit sa panit karong panahona tungod sa kainit sa panahon.

Pipila sa mga sakit nga mahimong makuha ang hubag-hubag, hadhad, an-an, alipunga ug buni tungod sa singot karong ting-init.

Number of firecracker-related injuries reach 173 – DoH

The Department of Health (DOH) has now monitored 173 cases of firecracker-related injuries
reported across the country.

The health department said 83, or 40 percent, of these injuries are attributed to “piccolo.”
“Kwitis,” “boga,” and the whistle bomb account for 15 injuries each, while the “trianggulo”
(triangle) has injured seven.

At least 20 people had suffered from blast burns, while 13 cases required amputations. Four
cases of firecracker ingestion and six incidents of stray bullets were also reported.

The National Capital Region holds the highest number of victims with 68 coming from Metro
Manila.

The DOH on Tuesday reiterated its warning to the public on use of firecrackers to welcome
the New Year.

The health agency released in December 22 a list of banned firecrackers, which
include “piccolo”, “pla-pla”, five-star, atomic bomb, “triangulo”, “Super Lolo”, Boga,
and “Watusi”. These fireworks are commonly accessible to children.

The DOH had also urged parents to let their children use tin cans, drums, and trumpets to
make noise since these are safe compared to firecrackers. (PIA/DOH)

Govt agencies coordinate vs bird flu

PHILIPPINE government agencies have started coordinating their efforts to protect the public
from the avian influenza (bird flu) virus after Hong Kong officials confirmed this week its first
infection in seven years.

Passengers from Hong Kong will be strictly monitored at the airport to prevent the entry of
bird flu in the country, Health Secretary Enrique Ona said Friday.

Ona said the Department of Health (DOH), in coordination with airport authorities, will re-
intensify the monitoring of in-bound passengers through installed thermal scanners at the
Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He added that the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources have intensified their bird flu watch.

The DOH has also said that it has enough stockpile of Tamiflu in case the bird flu enters the
country.

The World Health Organization revealed that human cases of bird flu or the H5N1 virus
have only been reported in 6 countries – Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, and

Leptospirosis gibantayan

sa nasud.

Niabot na sa 690 ka kaso sa leptospirosis sa nasud ug 36 na ang nangamatay niini.

Matud pa ni DOH National Epidemiology Center Chief Dr. Eric Tayag, kadaghanan sa mga
kaso nga natala gikan sa Metro Manila, apan gisuta nila karon ang posibleng outbreak sa
leptospirosis sa Pangasinan diin aduna nay gikataho nga 24 ka kaso ug duha na niini ang
namatay.

Pipila sa mga sintomas sa maong sakit mao ang hilanat, pag yellow sa pamanit ug pag kolor
tsaa sa ihi.

Dili usab angay nga pasagdan ang mga bata nga magdula sa baha tungod kay dinhi nila
mas daling makuha ang mga sakit sama na sa leptospirosis. (PIA)

GISUGYOT sa mga pribadong tambalanan sa Department of Health (DOH) niadtong Lunes nga e-deklara ang dengue epidemic tungod sa nagkasakang kaso sa dengue sa tibuok nasud ning tuiga.

Matud pa sa presidente sa Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAP) nga si Rustico Jimenez, ang paghimo sa deklarasyon makapa-aghat sa publiko nga mas magpakabana mahitungod sa kakuyaw sa sakit nga dengue.

Si Jimenez nagkanayon nga daghan pang mga Pinoy ang wala pa nagpakabana mahitungod sa maong sakit.

Sa kinatibuk-an, aduna nay 77,012 ka kaso sa dengue, apil na sa 543 nga nangamatay, ang natala gikan Enero 1 hangtud Setyembre 4 ning tuiga.

Samtang ang DOH, nisalikway sa pag-deklara og epidemic o state of calamity tungod kay ang ubang probinsya nitala og nagka-ubos nga kaso sa dengue, matud pa ni Dr. Eric Tayag, ang director sa National Epidemiology Center.
Gidugang ni Tayag nga mamahimo lamang mag-deklara kon adunay mga kondisyon sama sa: ang mga tawo nga nagka-dengue dili na matambalan sulod sa ilang panimalay tungod sa ka grabehon sa maong sakit; daghang nangamatay tungod sa maong sakit; ang mga tambalanan dili na makapasulod sa mga pasyente tungod sa kadaghan; ug grabeng pagkatap sa sakit nga dengue sa tanang lungsod.
