The construction of the Panglao international airport has already been launced last May and various feedbacks have been heard from localities. Some feedbacks are showing support some are not. But having an Internat'l airport in Panglao… will it really benefit us?

Panglao is known to be a nature's gift to Bohol because of its pristine beaches and being a sanctuary for tourists who just love quiet, peaceful and enjoyable time. So how will a noisy busy crowded airport be a boost to Panglao's tourism and Bohol's in general? Instead of making Panglao as a perfect escapade from the hustles and bustles of a city life, having an airport there will make Panglao a perfect entrance to another hustles and bustles of a city life.

Positively, an international airport (IA) will generate more income to the province, will provide employment to Boholanos, will give convenience to Panglao avid fans, etc. But there is a competition between Mactan IA which is just near the province. Why not just improve the domestic airport in Tagbilaran anyway?

Surely, we don't want another white-elephant project in the country.. so the question remains, Is an international airport in Panglao really feasible?

I think the airport in panglao is feasible. Airports open up business opportunities for many industries. We all know how Mactan became an industrial zone after the Mactan International airport was opened. Products can be shipped in and out much more efficiently with an international airport nearby. In the case of Panglao, it is our tourism services that would gain much benefit. I think the old airport in Tagbilaran is too small and has nowhere to expand. Better convert it into an IT park na lang in the near future. :D

Indeed…you got the point. Taking into account the negative contributions it may bring, Panglao is still or should still be subject for eco-tourism boost rather than to an industrial tourism upgrade. Where in fact there are still lots of perfect sites this ‘PANGLAO INTER’L AIRPORT’ should be UP with esp. in the wide plain lots and areas in the uptown districts of Dao-Dampas. (just like the way the Alturas Company did to ICM…though on the first place it wasn’t that good)

Coz for me… Panglao remains to me the Prime Haven for Bohol’s Tourism Sector.

Well, i guess this is just about NATURE vs. INDUSTRY scenario… -lol-

Grabeh tej Bai. I think so. It is feasible. Why? Because it really boosts our tourism. Plus there will be more vacant jobs to Filipinos. I agree with Sano. Convert the Tagbilaran Airport into an IT Park para mas byu. hehehe

To God be all the Glory! Jesus rules forever!

The Panglao International Airport is feasible as far the meaning of the word feasible is concerned. The fact that the capsule has been laid and the project launched proves that it is. I see here that the argument begs to discuss about the cultural, moral and environmental implications of the project. If that is the case, one should ask if the implementation of the project is ethical, beneficial or detrimental. I think, that should be the question here. Let us not pass judgment until we are sure which factor by far outweighs the other.

I would like to say, aside from what I've said above, that Panglao Island's magic resides in its environment. And as for me personally, I would suggest that anyone leave Panglao Island alone if their only goal is to disrupt the island's natural harmony. Let us learn our lesson, lest Nature teach us again…we might not get lucky next time.

I think it is feasible. I have high hopes that the airport will bring about further economic development in Bohol. The question is would we have enough political and “community” will to ensure that our culture and ecosystem are not compromised by this upcoming development.

Maybe the government made a feasibilty study out of this and concluded that it is feasible. Having an international airport in Bohol will provide many people for sure, lots of conveniences in business, in tourism and travel, etc. And it would open doors for more opportunities! That's great news.

But it could have been better if not situated in Panglao. That's just my opinion Laughing

Our instructor also told us once that during their tour in Manila, they went to this certain agency (forgot the name) that will approve a sort of document pertaining the inception of Panglao IA construction. But they would not because of its land mass or something. And a report also confirmed this .. http://www.gov.ph/news/default.asp?i=10932 … so i don't know …
