The Let Go...Let Peace Come In Foundation is a newly formed nonprofit with a mission to help heal and support adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse worldwide. We are actively seeking adult survivors who would be willing to post a childhood photo and caption, their story, or their creative expressions to our website www.letgoletpeacecomein.org. By uniting survivors from across the globe we can help provide a stronger and more powerful voice to those survivors who have not yet found the courage to speak out. Together we can; together we should; together we NEED to stand up and be counted. Please visit our site for more details on how you can send us your submissions.

Thank you for everything you do!

I have been very happy to see several medical missions here in Bohol. Thousands of people are being helped. Many medical staff have sacrificed heavily of there time and money to provide these services. I would like to ask some disturbing questions. Are these missions really reaching the poor? Are some taking advantage of these missions for personal gain at the expense of serving the community. Early this week I brought 8 people to a medical mission screening, only to have most of them turned away as they did not have Phil Health to cover screening costs. They were told screening could only be done by one Dr at a private hospital and fees were very steep. Those that were screened with Phil Health were required to check into the hospital for taking out patent procedures like Ultrasound etc.. I am assuming this is so Phil Health can be charged more for the service. Foreign Medical missions rent Philippine Hospital facilities at great expense and hire local staff out of there own pockets to help Filipinos only to be cheated and robbed by those that see medical missions as pure profit making ventures. The screening process seems to be set up to screen out the poor and help only the rich and well connected. I spoke to one US doctor as he was leaving after a recent medical mission in Bohol. He told me he was not planning to ever come back here. Can we blame him! His entire set of custom surgical tools was stolen from the secure operating room. Due to the screening process he ran out of patients on the 2nd day of the 5 day mission. It was too late to screen, prepare and operate on the many poor cases that walked in on the last 2 days. A little wisdom and planning could make a world of difference to the effectiveness and the future of Medical missions here in Bohol
