Army brands lawless MILF group as criminals, not terrorists

Col. Nicanor E. Dolojan, Commanding Officer of the 403rd Brigade of the Philippine Army clarified that the AFP has not issued an official statement branding the lawless MILF group as terrorists.

“However, they are branded as criminals,” he added.

He stressed that they are criminals for the atrocities they committed and that they should be made answerable for what they’ve done.

The AFP does not have the power to declare or recommend to the government that this or that group is a terrorist.

It must undergo due process before it is forwarded to and decided upon by the National Anti-Terror Council as sanctioned by the United Nations (UN), the army officer added.

Palasyo mihimo og imbestigasyon kahabin sa `Air Assault’ sa militar didto sa Mindanao

Usa ka masusing imbestigasyon ang gimando sa Malakanyang kahabin sa pag-pamomba sa usa ka eroplano sa militar sa mga suspetsadong grupo sa MILF sa Mindanao. Sumala pa sa taho, unom ka sibilyan ang nanga-angol.

Matud pa ni Kalihim sa Prensa Jesus Dureza, tan-awon kon aduna bay “extreme need” o gikinahanglanon ba gyud ang pag-gamit ug kusog sa militar nga ila mang gi-labag ang “operational guidelines.”

Adunay “operational guidelines” nga gi-dili ang paggamit ug bomba ug dagkong kalibreng armas sa panahon sa Ramadad.

Kon gamiton man gani ang ing-ining kusog sa militar, gitu-ohan nga adunay “extreme need” nga nakita. Kon wala, ang palisiya nga dili mogamit og bomba maoy tumanon, apas sumpay ni Dureza.

Sumala sa pasi-unang taho migawas nga mipa-ulan ug bala ang grupong MILG lulan sa 10 ka pumpboats sa milabay nga abyon sa militar, gumikan nga kini mibalos.

Heneral sa AFP mapasaligon nga respetahan ang Ramadan, mi-awhag sa mga rebeldeng MILF nga mo-surender

Si Major Gen. Nehemias Pajarito, Commanding General, sa 1ID, mapasaligon nga ilang ipatuman ang palisiya sa Armadong Kusog nga respetahan ang Ramadan, bisan kon gipadayon ang walay pu-as nga nga pag-gukod ug pagpukan sa mga rebeldeng MILF nga gipamunuan ni Kumander Bravo.

Gi-awhag usab ni Gen. Pajarito ang mga sumusunod ni Bravo nga mo-ampo sa sabakan sa balaud tungod kay sila gi-ilad lamang sa sayop nga pagtu-o ug panulun-an. Kon ang inyong tinguha mao ang kalinaw ug panaghi-usa tali sa Muslim ug Kristiyano, amo kamong gi-awhag mo-surender, dugang ni Pajarito.

Pakignegosasyon alang sa kalinaw mag-agad sa DDR

Ang tanang lakang sa gobyerno sa pakig-dayalogo sa MILF og lain pang mga rebeldeng grupo aron makab-ot ang kalinaw maga sentro na karon sa gitawag ug DDR kon disarmament, demobilization og rehabilitation. Mao kini ang mando ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo matud pa ni defense secretary Teodoro Gilberto human sa gipahigayong tigum sa National Security Council kagahapong adlawa.

“Inubanan sa halapad nga paghimo og konsultasyon sa mga lokal nga komunidad, ang DDR kon disarmament, demobilization og rehabilitation mao na ang unang basehan usa ang Kagamhanan molingkod pag usab sa peace negotiating table”, ang kalihim sa depensa mibutyag.

Matud pa ni Teodoro “ipadayon gihapon ang pagtukis sa grupo ni Kumander Bravo og Umbra Kato bisan gasukod na ang Ramadhan. Kinahanglang ma disarmahan una ang mga sakop ni Bravo og Kato og ang pag surender sa duha aron manubag sa ilang mga nahimong kriminal nga buhat”.

Sa demobilisasyon, gidili sa Pangagamhanan ang mga sundalo sa MILF sa pagtapok aron makamugna og dagkong grupo , kini aron malikayan ang pagpahigayon og lain pang mga opensiba batok sa mga kasundaluhan og pagpangatake sa mga sibilyang komunidad.

Ang rehabilitasyon sa mga internally displaced persons (IDP) o mga bakwit nga mokabat na karon og labaw sa tres syentos mil (300,000) mao usab ang nag-unang gihatagan.

Si Lt. Gen. Cardozo Luna, ang AFP vice chief of staff nga kanhing 302nd brigade commander nga unang gabase sa Camp Rajah Sikatuna, Katipunan, Carmen midasun usab sa maong kondisyones sa Gobyerno diha sa pagpadayon sa panag-estoryahay sa Kagamhanan sa MILF og lain pang rebeldeng grupo.

Si Luna nga mao ang gitudlo nga commander sa Joint Task Force Mindanao, mipasalig nga bisan padayong ang pagtukis sa militar sa grupo ni Bravo og Kato ang mga kasundaluhan hugot nga manalipod sa katungod sa mga sibilyan og mopatuman sa rules of engagement. (30)

ARMM elections this Monday, August 11

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is now ready for the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) elections this Monday, August 11 regardless how chaotic the region is.

Comelec Chairman Josemelo said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and PNP are now on full security in ARMM. Last Monday, they had a last minute meeting with the Comelec officials and the PNP on what to guard and to keep an eye on Maguindanao since it is the base for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). If ever ther will be chaos on the election day, the Comelec can declare “Failure of Election.”

MOA signing between government and MILF is cancelled

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), in regards to Bansa- Moro Juridical Entity (BJE), is cancelled. The BJE is concerned with the widening of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) area.

The Supreme Court said the MOA signing is cancelled, and released a Temporary Restraining Order to maintain status quo. The TRO was a result from a petition made by Congresman Erico Fabian of Zamboanga City. Fabian was against it since the government made negotiations with the MILF without making consultations on such matters with the local government of Zamboanga.
