One coastal policy in marine triangle pushed
Provincial lawmakers are now setting in motion a common ordinance that is to be impleented by th three municipalities of the Bohol Marine Triangle, namely Dauis, Panglao and Baclayon. In a meeting of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) committees which tackled on environment and tourism, the memorandum of agreement (MOA) entered by the mayors aforementioned was discussed.
Acting on a letter from the Alona Beach Community Association Inc. (ABCAI) which scored the delay in the joint drafting of a common Marine Environmental User Fee Ordinance to be adopted by the three towns, the two SP committees headed by Board Members Alfonso Damalerio II and Corazon Galbreath urged the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of said towns to lead in the preparation of the proposed measure as stipulated in the MOA.
Among other responsibilities, the three LGUs will adhere to a policy having a single management system in the BMT area. Each town will fully exercise its police powers to enforce all fisheries and environmental laws within its coast.
