Gov’t eye new job opportunities to Filipino Workers
The government has stepped up to search for new job opportunities here abroad in order to justify the impact of the global crisis on the country’s economy.
As an initial move, the President called for the immediate employment in the country of the jobless and out-of-school youth under the administration’s Emergency Livelihood Employment Program.
Cabinet secretaries have been assigned to oversee the implementation of the employment program in specific regions of the country. Arroyo also instructed DOLE and the OWWA to set aside adequate funds to be loaned out to dislocated expatriate workers as emergency capital for livelihood projects pending their re-deployment to foreign countries.
