The fist national congress of the Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere (MOVE) is set on November 25 in Kalibo, Aklan.

December 12 is the last day of the 18 – Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) spearheaded by the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW).

The 18-day campaign, with the theme “CEDAW ng Bayan: ReMOVE VAW, highlights the critical roles of governments and of men in curbing and responding sensitively to VAW.

The First National Congress of MOVE will center on the vital role of men in the fight against VAW, taking off from previous efforts in building a network of male advocates against VAW. (PIA/Bohol)

The 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, starts on November 25 and ENDS ON DECEMBER 12, 2008 (NOT DECEMBER 5). Per Proclamation 1172 declaring December 12 of every year as the International Day Against Trafficking, to mark the adoption in Palermo Italy in 2000, “The Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children.

The MOVE First National Congress which was held on December 5, 2008 was one of the highlights of the 18-day campaign to end VAW.

    Thank you.
