Consumer Month highlights use of generic drugs
Consumer Welfare Month (CWM), this coming October, highlights the use of generic drugs. The annual celebration is in pursuant to Proclamation No. 1098 dated Sept. 26, 1997. This is in order to promote dissemination of sound consumer information by both public and private sectors, including the media, on subjects such as complaints and policies affecting consumer and encourage dialogue and cooperation among consumers, business and government and broaden the scope of consumer education by heightening consumer awareness.
This year’s theme, “Generic Drugs; Gawang Pinoy! Galing Pinoy! Tangkilikin Natin!”, is anchored on the key policy area of the national government to protect public health and to adopt appropriate measures to promote and ensure access to affordable quality drugs and medicines for all. (PIA)
