14th National Crime Prevention week to focus on youth involvement in crime prevention
This year’s National Crime Prevention Week celebration on September 1-7 is focused at calling on the youth to walk and work together towards crime prevention and the attainment of lasting peace.
In a memorandum dated July 17, 2008, DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno, enjoined all provincial, city municipal peace and order councils to actively support the projects and activities of the National Crime Prevention Week celebration.
According to Puno, with this year’s theme Kapit-Bisig Kabataan Tungo sa Kapayapaan, Now Na!” and the slogan, “Lakad Kabataan Laban sa Kriminalidad,” will focus on the involvement of the youth sector in crime prevention.
The week-long celebration aims to promote community involvement and participation in crime prevention, particularly on establishing and strengthening the Student Crime Prevention Network, Secretary Puno added.
The celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 461 dated August 31, 1994 declaring the first week of September of every year as the National Crime Prevention Week. (PIA/Bohol)
